When you're hungry for a great meal, and your tastes range from a "greasy spoon" to "white tablecloths", look no further than our own Detroit Shoreway neighborhood.

Mac & Cheese fans can find their nirvana at Cheddars Café at 5801 Detroit Avenue.  Cheddars takes Mac & Cheese from Philly to Barcelona to South.  You’ll be glad you went along for the ride.

 

A simple structure with a long history as a local drinking pub, The City Grill at 6416 Detroit Avenue is being renovated into an upscale American wood fired pizza restaurant and pub.

 

For a sit-down family style meal, visit Greenwich Village Café at 6414 Lorain Avenue. Owners Sue and Dino Papadapoulos work hard to put out quality meals at fair prices. Daily specials are posted in the front window, and the lunch counter is usually full any time of the day.

Gypsy Beans & Baking Co. at 6425 Detroit Avenue is a full-service coffee house and sandwich shop, features delectable muffins, cookies, cakes and more, and is located in the historic Kennedy Building. Visit their website  at  www.gypsybeans.com for more information.

 

Step into a time warp to 1947 at the Happy Dog at 5801 Detroit Avenue.  Nightly specials and live music (including polka night!) make the Happy Dog a destination for an eclectic mix of patrons.

 

Long Phung (5107 Detroit Avenue) serves some of the best Chinese food around. Their pot stickers and fried rice are two particular favorites. Lunch specials are affordable and served in a short time to get you back to the office.

 

Minh-Anh (5428 Detroit Avenue) is a Cleveland institution, widely considered as serving the best Vietnamese food around. Efficient and beautiful presentations of meals that are full of flavor keep hungry diners coming back for more. They have an extensive take-out menu. The Parkview Nite Club (1261 W. 58th Street) is a favorite watering hole hidden in the neighborhood. This anomaly presents incredible live music several nights a week, and also serves up some of the most unique meals around. Check out the deep fried asparagus and the fish tacos, and make sure to hit the Parkview for Sunday brunch.

 

Rincon Criollo (6504 Detroit Avenue), home of the fantastic Jibarito sandwich, is a family-owned and operated Puerto Rican restaurant in the landmark Gordon Square Arcade. Rincon features mouth-watering meat pies, chicken stew, and other Puerto Rican favorites.

 

Snickers Tavern, at its new location at 5800 Detroit Avenue, has a wonderful and well-priced menu that is complimented by the dining rooms featuring historic wood paneling from the 1930s,  and an art deco-styled bar with stylized female figures of the four seasons.  Snickers also features one of the finest outdoor dining patios in the city.  Snickers is a long-standing neighborhood icon that just keeps getting better with age.

 

Coming Soon! Stone Mad Irish Pub at 1306 W.65th Street will be a traditional Irish pub with a bull Bocce Ball court.  The building features custom woodwork, stained glass, and mosaics that promise to make Stone Mad one of a kind.

Coming Soon! TOAST Wine Bar will be Detroit Shoreway’s first full-service wine bar.  Located at 1363 W.65th Street in the former Lopescu Bakery, TOAST will be a welcome addition to the Gordon Square Arts District. 


Pizza, the perennial favorite for years, is offered by several places in our neighborhood.  Nunzio’s (7029 Lorain Avenue), Pizza De Roma & Lounge (7115 Lorain Avenue), and Georgio’s Oven Fresh Pizza Co. (6902 Detroit Avenue), all serve up quality pies with their own individual tastes.

 

If you' re in a hurry and want the traditional fast food, drive over to Detroit Avenue from West 67th to Lake Avenue. This dense restaurant row features such national chains like Subway, McDonalds, Burger King, Popeye's Chicken, New Orleans Seafood, Pizzazio's, Mr. Hero, and Perky's Pizza.
