The Cleveland EcoVillage is one of just a handful or urban ecovillage projects in the nation. As such, it is a model for how Cleveland can be a city that honors human and ecological health and a model for how other community might think about their urban neighborhoods as ecovillage redevelopment projects.
Some of the goals of the EcoVillage include:
- Community gardening
- Greenspace improvements
- Reduced energy bills
- Convenient public transportation
- Clean air and water
- New “green” housing on vacant lots
- Healthy homes and schools
- Sustainable jobs
- Walkable streets
- Pedestrian and bicycle connections
