Third Fridays in Gordon Square Launch
CLEVELAND- ThirdFridays in the Gordon Square Arts District (GSAD) just even better! Merchants in the District have teamed up with the galleries inside 78th Street Studios, led by Hilary Gent (ofHEDGE Gallery) to launch a bigger monthly event. From September-December (9/20, 10/18, 11/15,12/20) in 2013, you have 13 more reasons to visit the internationally recognized Gordon Square Arts District, including merchant specials, 78th Street Studios openings and a shuttle through the district.
The goal of expanding what’s happening in the area on Third Fridays, is to further awareness of the arts within the neighborhood, and to give visitors even more reasons to visit Gordon Square on the Third Friday of every month. From sales, to late night Happy Hours, to new gallery openings, food specials and live entertainment, GSAD is THE Cleveland hot spot on Third Fridays.
78thStreet Studios is the largest fine arts complex in Northeast Ohio with over 40 retail galleries, studios and other creative spaces all under one roof (http://78thstreetstudios.com/). The 78th Street Studios’ Third Fridays event, monthly hosts more than 1,000 guests from 5pm-9pm. “78th Street Studios has become a regional asset for the arts, creating economic development opportunities and a spring board for arts-based entrepreneurs,” said Dan Bush, owner of the 78th Street Studios Complex. “We are excited about the expansion of Third Fridays throughout the Gordon Square Arts District.”
“Third Fridays have been a great way for people to get to know the area, meet working artists and be a part of the neighborhood’s resurgence,” comments Judi Feniger, President of the Gordon Square Arts District.
“The merchants in the district have collaborated in a very unique way, working together to launch the Third Fridays in Gordon Square initiative,” said Cleveland City Councilman Matt Zone. “The collaboration allows neighborhood residents to experience even more of the arts, culture and entertainment in their own backyard.”
The four month initiative will include special promotions at area businesses, special events, extended hours (see list below) and free shuttles in the district- providing easier transportation and more public parking options, encouraging visitors to explore all that the Arts District has to offer.
