Resources During Coronavirus/COVID-19
Detroit Shoreway Community Development Organization and Cudell Improvement, Inc. have compiled this list of local resources and providers. This list was last updated April 26, 2021, but all items are subject to change. For updated information, contact providers directly or call 211. You can also request or offer assistance with Cleveland Pandemic Response, a volunteer mutual aid group.
COVID Vaccines & Testing
Contact our coordinator, Emily, for assistance with scheduling a COVID vaccination, finding free transportation and more, at ebischoff@dscdo.org or (216) 961-4242 x243.
The City of Cleveland has a call center to answer vaccine distribution questions and assist eligible individuals in scheduling a vaccination or joining a waitlist. Call (216) 664-2222 during hours of operation, Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm. You may also call 211.
Visit vaccine.coronavirus.ohio.gov to check eligibility and find vaccination locations, or contact your healthcare provider. Neighborhood Family Practice is scheduling vaccination appointments (3569 Ridge Rd. and 4625 Puritas Ave. locations) and allows residents to join its waitlist.
Free coronavirus testing is available locally, by appointment only, at Rite Aid, CVS and Neighborhood Family Practice. To find additional testing locations, visit the ODH Testing & Community Health Centers page.
If you have symptoms (fever, cough, sore throat, headache, chills, tiredness, loss of taste/smell, difficulty breathing), stay at home. Call MetroHealth’s hotline at (440) 592-6843 for an assessment or contact your physician. You can schedule a virtual appointment if you have a physician at Cleveland Clinic or University Hospitals.
Rental & Utility Assistance
If you are having trouble paying your rent or mortgage because of COVID-19, you may be eligible for Rental Assistance from the City of Cleveland or Cuyahoga County. Visit neorenthelp.org now to apply and submit all required documents, or call (833) 377-7368. (If you own property in the City of Cleveland, you must register your property for units to be eligible for rental assistance. See registration instructions at bit.ly/clerentalreg.)
If you are facing eviction and are living at/below the federal poverty line with at least one child, you have the right to free legal help in Housing Court. Visit FreeEvictionHelp.org, call (216) 687-1900, or call 211 (24-hour line).
COVID-19 utility assistance is no longer available. For other utility assistance programs, visit chnhousingpartners.org/utilityassistance or call CHN Housing Partners at (833) 377-7368.
The City of Cleveland lifted the moratorium on utility shutoffs on Dec. 1, 2020. The City will resume the regular process for collections and disconnection of service for delinquent water and/or electric accounts. Contact your provider as soon as possible to discuss payment options:

Other Financial Resources
FEMA is providing financial assistance for COVID-19-related funeral expenses incurred after January 20, 2020. Apply online or call 1 (844) 684-6333.
Our local friends at Community Financial Centers provide free, confidential financial coaching, and they are still helping new clients by phone or video call. Make an appointment by calling 216.453.0497 or scheduling online.
Emergency, interest-free loans of up to $1,500 may be available from HFLA of Northeast Ohio for anyone impacted by COVID-19. Apply at interestfree.org or call (216) 378-9042.
Internet Access
The Walz and Lorain branches of the Cleveland Public Library are open and have computers and internet access. RTA is providing free Wi-Fi nearby at the W 65-Lorain Rapid Station and on trains and buses.

Comcast is offering two free months of internet service to all qualified, low-income households. You may cancel at any time or continue the service at $9.95 per month. To enroll, call 1 (855) 846-8376 or visit internetessentials.com.
AT&T is offering two free months of internet service to limited income households who participate in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. After two months, the service continues at $5 or $10 per month, depending on plan speed. Apply by calling 1 (855) 220-5211 or visiting att.com/access.

WVIZ/PBS ideastream’s weekday TV programs are tailored for children ages 3 to 8 (7-9am) and ages 9 and older (9am-6pm). Watch over-the-air on channel 25.1 or through your local cable/satellite provider.
Local teaching artists from Talespinner Children’s Theatre are posting theater activities, games and more. Scholastic Learn at Home has day-to-day educational projects, and PBS posted this guide: How to Talk to Your Kids About Coronavirus.
